In response to some of the questions we've received lately about using PolitePersistence with email clients other than Gmail, we've written this step-by-step walkthrough to show you just how easy it is to use PolitePersistence with ANY email client. Don't worry... no matter what email program you use (for work or personal use) you will soon be as Politely Persistent as they come.

Let's say you are someone who is sick of wasting time on meaningless work and is ready to spend more time with friends and family than rather with your inbox... BUT you are either:

1)      Not a Gmail user at all

2)      A part time Gmail user (i.e. you use a different email client like Outlook for your main work / personal email)

No worries. We got you covered!

Here is a step-by-step process for being able to take advantage of PolitePersistence even if you use a different email client.

The following is broken up into two sections:

1)      Forwarding your email to a PolitePersistence enabled Gmail account

2)      Sending an email from your PolitePersistence enabled Gmail account from another email account

Forwarding Your Email to a PolitePersistence Enabled Gmail Account

Step 1) Create a new Gmail account (if you don’t have one) or dust off your old Gmail address. Let’s call this email ‘MyGmailEmail@gmail.com

Step 2) Log into your current email client. Let’s call this email ‘MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com’ This may be Outlook, Yahoo, personal or work email etc.

Step 3) Now activate the forwarder and forward all email to your MyGmailEmail@gmail.com address. If you don’t know how to set up a forwarder for your email program and since there are so many different types of email clients I suggest simply stopping here and Googling “How to set up an email forwarder for [Name of Your Email Client]”

Step 4) Now, send a test email to your MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com from another 3rd email address or even to yourself from MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com.

Step 5) Go back and check MyGmailEmail@gmail.com to confirm that MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com properly forwarded your test email to MyGmailEmail@gmail.com.

If it did then congrats! You are officially halfway there.

Now it’s time to figure out how to send emails from your MyGmailEmail@gmail.com but make it look like its coming from your MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com.

Sending an Email from your PolitePersistence Enabled Gmail Account on Behalf of Another Email Account

Step 1) Open up your MyGmailEmail@gmail.com account and click the cog looking thing on the far upper right side of the screen. It drops down. Click on Settings. Now click on Accounts at the top of the Settings menu.

Step 2) Next to “Send Mail As” on the left click “Add another email address you own”

Step 3) Complete these fields with your name and the email you want to send emails from using PolitePersistence in Gmail which in this scenario is MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com.

Step 4) Gmail will ask your permission to send a confirmation email to your MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com. Allow them to do so.

Step 5) Now is your chance to choose how you want to confirm that these accounts are linked! The joy of having options! I personally prefer just copying and pasting the confirmation code from the email you receive at MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com.

Step 6) You have achieved Gmail Email Interlocking success when you see MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com show up in the list of “Send Mail As” emails.

Step 7) Now go back to your inbox. Click on compose. Click the ‘To’ or ‘From’ field and you will see a drop down of all of the emails you can ‘Send Email As’.  MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com will be in this dropdown list.

Step 8) Once MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com is selected, click on the PolitePersistence logo in the lower right hand corner of the compose screen and you are ready to send PolitePersistence as MyOtherEmail@otheremail.com

Pretty cool, eh?
